One arrested in prostitution sting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 19, 2017

Richmond, Texas

One person is under arrest and a spa will be closed after a raid conducted by Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

At about 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, deputies conducted a raid on Anne Spa, located in the 9200 block of Highway 6 in the Houston area of Fort Bend County.

Two women were inside the business when the raid occurred. One female was charged with prostitution, which is a Class B Misdemeanor.

Before the raid, an investigation was conducted to determine if there was prostitution or solicitation of prostitution being conducted at the location.

“The Sheriff’s Office received numerous complaints from residents living in the area who suspected prostitution was being conducted,” said Sheriff Troy E. Nehls.

The landlord of the center has advised the Sheriff’s Office that the lease for the business will be revoked to ensure the business will be permanently closed.

Both females are Chinese and are in the United States on student visas. The woman arrested was Yu Chan, 38, of Houston.

The investigation indicated there was nothing to lead investigators to believe there were under-age girls in the operation nor did it appear that human trafficking was involved. However, the case remains under investigation.

“We will continue to keep a vigilant watch for illicit businesses like this one in order to keep our community clean,” said Sheriff Troy E. Nehls. “We will not tolerate this kind of activity and this is yet another step in achieving the goal of making Fort Bend County the best place to live in the Houston area.”
