On Dec. 1, Mario Chavez was shot and killed during an attempted armed robbery in front of his home on Richey Street in Pasadena.

According to police, Chavez had arrived at his residence in the 500
block of Richey after work just after 10 p.m. When Chavez returned to
his vehicle to get something he was confronted by a male suspect in
all-black clothing who attempted to rob him at gunpoint.

Police say Chavez tried to fight back and was joined by his brothers at some point in his attempt to fight the suspect.
During this altercation, police say the suspect shot Chavez multiple
times and attempted to shoot the victim's brothers. While neither of his
brothers were struck, Chavez died at the scene. The suspect then fled
on foot in an unknown direction.
The suspect has been
described as a black male between 20 and 25 years old, about 5'10 to
6'00 tall and weighing about 200 pounds.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any
information leading to charge and/or arrest of the capital murder
