Male Victim Found on El Dorado Identified

At 5:44 am on December 11, 2017, the Travis County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call requesting deputies to check the welfare of residents at 8001 El Dorado in southwest Travis County. The first deputy on scene did not get any response when he knocked on the door. What he observed through a window gave him reason to believe the occupants needed immediate assistance. Upon making entry into the residence, the bodies of

YARIV KAPLAN, 42 of Travis County

and a female child were discovered. Both bodies had sustained a gunshot wound.

Evidence indicates Yariv Kaplan’s injuries were self-inflicted. The final ruling regarding cause and manner of death is pending toxicology results by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Positive identification of the child is pending.
