On Monday afternoon, February 19th, at approximately 3:00 pm, Galveston Police officers were dispatched to the A&A Tire Shop in the 5700 block of Stewart Rd concerning a report of a stabbing.  Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, a 51-year-old male, as well as a witness and learned that the victim and a customer became involved in a verbal altercation.  During this altercation, the customer stabbed the victim in the throat and fled the scene. 

 

The victim was immediately transported to JSER by Galveston EMS where he was rushed into surgery.  At this time he is out of surgery and in stable condition.

 

Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division as well as the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to talk to the witnesses and to process the scene for any forensic evidence in an effort to identify the suspect in this case.  The suspect has been described as a black male, 5’8” tall, approximately 180 lbs, had a shaved head and was wearing a dark shirt.
