Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman that occurred at 2725 Reed Road at 9:05 p.m. on Saturday (April 21).

The suspect, Dondrick Flagg (b/m, 29) is charged with capital murder in the 263rd State District Court.  He is accused in the shooting death of Tiffany McKnight, 29, of the above address.

A booking photo Flagg is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. Hogue and L. Lovelace reported:

Ms. McKnight had just returned to her apartment complex at the above address and had parked her vehicle when Flagg approached her and asked to use her phone.  McKnight refused and Flagg dragged her out of her car, at which time the two began to struggle.  During the struggle multiple shots were fired at McKnight.  She sustained a gunshot wound to her back and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Flagg then fled on foot.

Responding officers located a male matching the description of Flagg near the apartment complex and attempted to detain him.  The suspect fled on foot and, during the chase, discarded a firearm.  Flagg was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit and subsequently charged.
