It is with both a sad heart and congratulations that we announce the retirement of Chief Robert Burby on June 30"^ 2018.
Chief Burby has served the community of Texas City for 14 years, bringing the Police Department to a high level of professionalism and accreditation.
His leadership will be missed by the community and by all the officers of the Texas City Police Department whom his encouragement and mentorshiphave shaped over the years.
Chief Burby has set the Police Department on a course to succeed through his efforts and personal example,
this will be his lasting legacy in our community.
Chief Burby, on behalf of the commission and citizens of Texas City, we thank you for your service and wish you and your family God's blessing and best wishes for good health and happy times during your retirement.
Assistant Chief Joe Stanton has been selected as the interim Chief of Police effective June 14th to conduct operations of the Texas City Police Department.

Thank you Chief Burby for your service and dedication. I have many good memories of meeting you in activities while I was still a busy citizen of our city; especially the Business and Professional Women's organization. We wish you the best!
