Civil Matter leads to Domestic Violence (Deadly Conduct)

TEXAS CITY, TX (January 10, 2018, 11:55 AM): Tuesday, January 09, 2018 12:51 P.M. Texas City Police received a 911 call and responded to a civil matter at 9814 Barracuda.
Officers arrived on scene and learned that the civil matter had escalated to a domestic dispute between an 18-year-old female and a 20-year-old male, over child custody.
Preliminary investigation revealed that female was attempting to retrieve her one-year-old child from male’s vehicle when the male drove off at a high rate of speed. The victim was clinging to the driver side door panel, when the male accelerated forward which caused her to fall and tumble on the concrete pavement. Officers also spoke to several residents in the neighborhood that witnessed this incident.
The male subject was identified as Zachary Close, 20 years old, of League City. Officers are pursuing an arrest warrant for Close on the charge of Deadly Conduct, Class Misdemeanor B.
The female victim received non-life threatening injuries during this incident.

It hurts to think what that poor scared child went through seeing his mother assaulted like that. I'm glad she didn't get hurt worse and I hope the idiot father gets significant jail time.
