             On 03-07-2017 at 3:51 P.M. Paris Police responded to a forgery complaint in the 200 block of S Collegiate. Officers were told that a subject was in the drive through attempting to pass a forged check. Officers made contact with Ronny Lester (29 YOA male) who was found to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and was placed under arrest. After the check was ferified to be forged Lester was also charged with forgery of a financial instrument.


            On 01-23-2017 Paris Police began an investigation into the offense of keeping a gambling place at nine (9) locations throughout the city. Officers had received information that gambling machines, commonly referred to as “eight-liners” were being housed at these locations and that the businesses were paying out winnings in cash and store merchandise to people “winning” while playing the eight-liner machines. Throughout the investigation officers were able to determine that the locations did in fact have gambling machines and that the businesses were paying out winnings in either cash or merchandise. The investigation lead to search warrants being served at businesses in the following locations: 2700 block of Lamar Ave, 3700 block of Lamar Ave, 1300 block of Clarksville, 600 block of 9th NW, 200 block of N Main, 700 block of Bonham, 1600 block of S Church, and two locations in the 1800 block of Bonham. During the execution of the search warrants a total of 38 Gambling machines were seized. The investigation is ongoing.


Paris Police responded to 100 calls for service and arrested 6 persons over the past 24 hours ending at 6:00 A.M. on March 8, 2017.
