Paris Police officers arrested 16 people over the weekend while answering 381 calls for service.

 

Billy Don George 50 of Paris was arrested in the 600 block of Bonham after officers were looking for a possible DWI.  Mr. George was arrested on a felony possession charge after being found in possession of a controlled substance which officers believe to be methamphetamine.


 

Santavious Gray 21 of Paris was arrested in 2200 block of Pine Bluff. Officers were responding to citizens requests for extra patrol in the area when two cars were observed.

Officers approached the vehicles and could smell burning marijuana. The police canine was called to the scene and alerted on one of the vehicles. Mr. Gray was arrested for felony possession of marijuana and a state jail felony possession of a controlled substance charge 

There were two persons detained on mental health warrants and all other arrests were for misdemeanor charges.


 

Officers responded to a shots fired call in the 2300 block of W. Austin.  Brandon Lee Harris, 26 of Paris suffered a gunshot wound to a leg and was transported by private car to the local hospital.  His injury is not considered to be life threatening.  Investigation indicates that shots were exchanged from a vehicle on the street and persons in the house.  Investigation continues with no arrests made during the initial response.


 

A complainant called to report her purse being stolen in the 300 block of NE 20th.  The complainant had went to this location to purchase marijuana from an individual and during the transaction, the suspect held ‘something’ to her throat, threatened to kill her and grabbed her purse and fled on foot.  Investigation is continuing.
