Subject:  Jury Summons Scam

This week, citizens of Jefferson County have been receiving e-mail notices that they have failed to appear for their jury summons.  The cause states - State v. Fishing Exploration and Bait Shoppes, Inc.

The email further states that you have 3 business days after which you may be contacted and required to appear in court and stand before the Honorable Judge Judith.

Then it gives you options to “Click here” to begin their SAFE AND SIMPLE processes.

Jefferson County, Texas does not send out Failure to Appear e-mail summons. This scam is called phishing.  Once they obtain your information that you provide them, they can steal your information and eventually take all of your money.

Do not fall for this scam.  Just delete the e-mail and move on.  No legitimate organization is going to call you and ask to verify your personal information over the phone nor through e-mail.  If it is not a trusted company, never do business over the phone nor over the internet.
