News Release

Nature of Incident:      Officer Walt Candelari receives state crime prevention award

 

Date of Incident:  July 25 -     28, 2017

 

Officer Walt Candelari recently received the 2017 Texas Crime Prevention Association’s Media Award for Print Media.   Officer Candelari was recognized with the award at the 2017 TCPA Summer Conference held in Rockwall, Texas.  Walt was recognized for his commitment to crime prevention and educating the public on current frauds and scams, as well as tips for preventing crimes.   For nearly three years, Walt has written a weekly crime prevention column for the Galveston County Daily News and The Post Newspaper.

 

Walt has been a police officer in Galveston County for the past 45 years.   For the last ten years, he has been with Dickinson Police Department assigned to the Community Policing Division.   Walt can often be found at community organizations delivering presentations on making homes and neighborhoods safer by educating citizens on crime trends and prevention strategies.
