Whitman to join San Antonio mayor, CEO at third annual event in Austin

Hank Whitman, Commissioner of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), will speak at the Texas Fatherhood Summit Friday, June 29, 2018 in Austin.

“We just celebrated Father’s Day, and the important role fathers play in the well-being of Texas families. I am proud to join with state and national leaders in conversation about how to support dads,” Whitman said.

Whitman will discuss DFPS’s targeted, research-based efforts to engage fathers, including parenting resources and new animated videos. He will also share insights and success stories from DFPS service providers.

The 2018 summit theme is “Engaging Communities, Strengthening Families,” putting a lens on why and how the inclusion of policies and programs that support fathers at the community level strengthens the entire family, as well as the communities in which they live.

Whitman joins special guests San Antonio mayor Ron Nirenberg and Leading Inside Out CEO Paul Schmitz at the summit.
