A Baytown man was sentenced to 30 years in prison for
forcing his teenage daughter to work for him as a prostitute, the Harris County
District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
Scott Rodney Robinson was sentenced after pleading guilty to
aggravated compelling of prostitution.
Robinson, 46, was arrested in June 2015 following an
undercover investigation by the Houston Police Department’s Vice Division and
the FBI, which were part of the Houston Child Exploitation Task Force.
“The facts showed that Scott Robinson forced his own
daughter into the depths of the illegal sex industry,” said JoAnne Musick,
chief of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office Sex Crimes Division. “His
depravity earned him decades in state prison.”
He was sentenced Monday by the 230th District
Court.
The case began with an anonymous tip to the National Center
for Missing and Exploited Children that a father was “pimping” his 16-year-old
daughter.
The tip included a link to an escort advertisement posted on
backpage.com, according to court papers.
The daughter later recalled for authorities how when her
father first learned she was having sex with boys, he told her that if she was
going to act like a prostitute she might as well be one.
Robinson began by forcing his daughter to knock on the doors
of tractor-trailer rigs parked at truck stops and offer sex for money.
The daughter said she had several customers a night and that
Robinson confiscated all she made.
