PONTOON BEACH, Ill. — A police officer was shot Tuesday morning at a gas station in Pontoon Beach, Illinois, according to Edwardsville police.

Police were called at about 8 a.m. to the Speedway gas station, which is located at 5401 Illinois Route 111 near Interstate 270.

Illinois State Police reported to 5 On Your Side that the Pontoon Beach Police Department officer was investigating a possible stolen car on the gas station parking lot when a man started shooting at him.
