After 47 years with the City of Galveston Police Department as the Senior Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police, Patricia Benavidez is retiring.
Benavidez began her career in the Records Division. She had the opportunity to advance within the department and beginning in Micro-film she advanced through Uniform Crime Reporting, Property Room, Identification Bureau, Relief Telephone Operator then Relief Secretary to the Chief. In 2000 she was promoted to Chief's Secretary.
She has worked under 15 Police Chief's having been personal secretary to 8 of them.
Benavidez is happily married to retired Galveston Police Captain Edward Benavidez. The couple recently celebrated 41 years of martial bliss. They have two wonderful sons, Eddie, Jr. and Daniel.
Along with other retirees and an appreciation celebration for departing Police Chief Vernon Hale, Benavidez was recognized for her 47 years of service at the San Luis Convention Center in Galveston on Friday, April 29.
