LEAGUE CITY
A Pearland man was arrested and charged with murder in the July 2020 death of Donald Eugene Heard, League City police disclosed Tuesday.
Christian Tyler Hickman-Staudt, 24, was arrested Oct. 27 in Hennepin County, Minnesota, and transferred to the Galveston County Jail on Dec. 19, police said.
League City police responded July 30, 2020, to a residence in the 100 block of Briarwood Court in reference to a death, police said. Officers met Heard’s mother, who had gone to the house to check on her son and found him dead, police said.
Police determined through an investigation Heard, 55, had died from a knife wound to the neck and had been dead for several days, police said.
Officers learned Heard and Hickman-Staudt had a relationship, police said. Hickman-Staudt was confirmed to have been in Heard’s house in the days before Heard was found dead and had called his mother, Frances Hickman, to pick him up in League City after saying he had fought with Heard, police said.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Hickman-Staudt, who had fled to Minnesota, police said.
He was charged with fourth-degree assault of a police officer in an incident in Minnesota for throwing or transferring bodily fluids or feces at or onto an officer, according to Minnesota court records.
Hickman-Staudt pled guilty to the charge Dec. 3, according to court records.
Frances Hickman, 49, Hickman-Staudt’s mother, also was charged in connection to Heard’s death. She was arrested Oct. 14, 2020, and charged with tampering with evidence. Her bond was set at $25,000.
Hickman-Staudt’s bond was set at $500,000, according to jail records. He also was held on no bond as a fugitive from justice from Louisiana, according to jail records.
