Sheriff deputies have arrested Angelique Campbell, 21, and charged her with murder in connection with the June shooting of a man in Crystal Beach, the second arrest related to the killing.

Campbell’s arrest comes about a month after Galveston resident Jordan Boxley-Turner, 25, was killed in a trailer on West Canal in Crystal Beach at about 3 a.m. June 12, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.

Daron Gills, 24, was arrested June 18 and also charged with murder in connection to the shooting.

Boxley-Turner arrived at the trailer about 2 a.m. June 12 to visit Campbell, according to the criminal complaint filed in the case.

While Boxley-Turner and Campbell were in the trailer, Gills arrived and got into a fight with Boxley-Turner, according to the complaint.

Campbell told deputies she left the trailer while the men were fighting and then heard a gunshot from inside, according to the complaint. She told deputies that Gills came out of the trailer and said he shot Boxley-Turner, according to the complaint.

Boxley-Turner had been shot above the right eye and in the chest, according to the complaint.

Sheriff Henry Trochesset wouldn’t elaborate Thursday on why the county also had pursued charges against Campbell, except to say the department had found more evidence.

“We have evidence to know that she was involved,” Trochesset said.

Campbell was being held on a $150,000 bond as of Thursday. Gills, who had been held on $150,000 bond, no longer is listed in custody.
