October 17-24, 2022
Theft
Oct. 19 (9:52 p.m.) Laura Espinosa, 36, of Pasadena, was
charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (Auto Theft) and Possession of
a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1. She was driving a stolen vehicle in
the 2900 block of W. Parkwood Avenue. The vehicle was stolen in Houston.
Espinoza told police that she and her husband purchased the vehicle on Facebook
Marketplace. Espinoza and the passenger,
Rogelio Vasquez, Jr., 36, of Pasadena, were taken into custody. At the jail, Espinoza was found in possession
of cocaine. Vasquez was in possession of debit cards belonging to other people.
Vasquez was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (Auto Theft) and
Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information. During a vehicle
search, other items containing the identification of others were found inside
the vehicle.
Fraud
Oct. 17 (6:05 p.m.) A Friendswood woman was checking her
bank statement when she noticed a fraudulent check had cleared from her bank
account. The check was for $6,300 issued to an individual. She advised she had
no knowledge of who the individual was and did not write the check.
Oct. 19 (10:14 a.m.) A Friendswood woman reported that an
attempt to cash a fraudulent check was made. The bank contacted the account
holder and asked if the check was good. She verified that the check was
fraudulent.
Oct. 19 (1:41 p.m.) A Friendswood man received a call from
Ace Cash Express in Texas City because someone was attempting to cash a check
he had written for $300. The person cashing the check advised that they
received the check for selling items on Offer Up. After checking with her bank,
another $300 check was forged and cleared the bank.
Oct. 20 (2:27 p.m.) A Friendswood resident had two bank
accounts opened in her name and three of her credit cards were fraudulently
used. She became aware of the fraud after receiving emails and letters from
creditors about the newly opened accounts.
Assault
Oct. 18 (10:01 p.m.) Tobias Victor Martinez, 48, of Deer
Park, was charged with Assault by Contact-Family Violence. Witnesses observed
Martinez hit a woman inside a vehicle in the 3100 block of W. Bay Area Blvd.
Martinez is accused of assaulting his girlfriend.
Oct. 21 (10:35 p.m.) A 15-year-old girl was charged with
Injury to an Elderly Person. She is accused of assaulting her mother at their
home in the 16600 block of Barcelona. The 15-year-old was transported to Harris
County Juvenile.
Driving While Intoxicated
Oct. 23 (2:07 a.m.) Anthony Daniel Salazar, 23, of Houston,
was charged with Driving While Intoxicated in the 2900 block of W. Parkwood
Avenue. Salazar was stopped for speeding. He exhibited signs of intoxication
and failed a field sobriety test.
Oct. 23 (11:59 p.m.) Marko Pinon, 29, of Alvin, was charged
with Driving While Intoxicated in the 800 block of S. Friendswood Drive. Pinon
was stopped for speeding. He exhibited signs of intoxication and failed a field
sobriety test.
Traffic
Oct. 20 (9:25 a.m.) Salvador Macias Carreon, 25, of Houston,
was charged with No Driver’s License and No Insurance. Jose Heriberto Macias
Carreon, 31, of Houston, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Salvador was driving with fake temporary license plates in the 1700 block of
Evan’s Gate. During the investigation, the officer detected the smell of
marijuana and found a vape pen containing THC in possession of the passenger.
Weapons
Oct. 24 (1:53 a.m.) Ivis Leonel Cruz, Jr., 21, of Houston,
was charged with Unlawful Carrying Weapons. Cruz was observed in the 100 block
of N. Friendswood Drive. He failed to
stop at the designated point at a red light and proceeded to make a wide right
turn. During the contact, the officer detected the smell of marijuana and
observed a lit marijuana cigarette in the center cup holder. When asked if
there were any weapons inside the vehicle, Cruz acknowledged that he was
carrying a gun in his waistband. The
weapon was seized, and a search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, another weapon was found
along with marijuana.

5 tips for a fun, not frightful Halloween night
Halloween is CREEPING up on us! The Friendswood Police
Department wishes everyone a safe and happy Halloween experience. Take a minute
to read these 5 tips to make sure you and your family stay safe while
trick-or-treating.
Trick-or-treat with trusted neighbors.
Dress to impress…..safely. Make sure costumes and candy bags
or pails are reflective. Costumes shouldn’t drag too far on the ground to avoid
tripping, and masks, hats, and shoes should be well-fitting.
Watch for kids. If you plan to be driving during
trick-or-treat hours, watch for children walking on roadways, medians, and
curbs. Be sure to enter and exit driveways carefully.
Stay on the path. Don’t stray from the well-marked routes to
get to the candy. Always use the sidewalk, and do not cut across yards or use
alleys. Wherever possible, cross the road at a crosswalk.
When in doubt, throw the candy out. Avoid candy that has
loose wrappings, is completely unwrapped, has puncture holes, or is homemade
and not factory wrapped.
