Retired Assistant Chief Franklin E. Yorek passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022, at the age of 74. 

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances M. Yorek; he is also the brother of Retired Commander Glenn D. Yorek, who retired on January 4, 2020. 

He joined the Houston Police Department on January 8, 1968, Academy Class #37. 

During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Central and Records Divisions. 

On July 1, 1978, he was promoted to the rank of Police Captain. As such, he was in command of the Crime Analysis Division. 

On July 12, 1980, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Police Chief. And as such, he was in command of the North Patrol Command, Criminal Investigations Command, Tactical Support Command, Office of Inspector General, and Organizational Development Command. 

Assistant Chief Yorek retired on March 25, 2006.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
