Friendswood Police Activity Report
March 13-20, 2023
Theft
Mar. 13 (8:05 p.m.) A theft of a cell phone occurred at a
residence in the 16900 block of Oxnard Lane.
The purple iPhone 14 Pro Max has been entered into the State database
and was disconnected by the carrier. The
suspect in this case is known by the victim.
Mar. 16 (2:07 p.m.) A theft of gasoline was reported at the
7-Eleven located at 1651 W. Parkwood Avenue.
The theft took place on February 26 and involved a black Dodge Ram
truck. According to the reporting
person, the driver used a pulsar manipulation device that allows them to
dispense more fuel than they paid for. The total loss was estimated at 349
gallons of diesel. The same truck was involved in two additional incidents –
one on February 27th where 229 gallons of diesel were stolen and one on
February 28th where 185 gallons of diesel were stolen.
Mar. 16 (5:27 p.m.) A theft was reported at Ace Hardware
located at 105 W. Edgewood Drive. A
Black male, in his 30’s, 6’ 5” tall, wearing a white hoodie and blue N95 mask,
came into the store and inquired about purchasing two gas-powered saws. While getting the saws, the suspect
unpackaged a universal wireless garage door keypad and a box of adhesive. The suspect was denied the sale of the saws
when he was unable to provide his ID.
Mar. 17 (2:38 p.m.) A 72-year-old woman’s gardener is
accused of theft. Over the course of
months, the gardener has been charging the elderly woman for services he did
not perform. The victim’s power of
attorney noticed discrepancies in the gardener’s payments and found a payment
for the gardener’s registration. The
case is under investigation.
Mar. 18 (11:35 a.m.) A stolen vehicle was found entering the
City on W. Parkwood near Canal. A
traffic stop was conducted in the HEB parking lot at 701 W. Parkwood Avenue.
The vehicle was occupied by two males and a female. The occupants of the stolen
vehicle claimed they borrowed the vehicle from their roommate. When the registered owner of the vehicle was
contacted, he confirmed that his son stole the vehicle and that the current
occupants probably had no idea the vehicle was reported stolen. The two males were released without charges;
however, the female passenger, Amanda Arellano Garcia, 33, of Needville, was
arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Mar. 19 (8:25 a.m.) Pearland police contacted Friendswood
police when they recovered a stolen boat in the roadway in the 2400 block of
John Street. A white 2020 Ford F250
Tremor pickup, TX license plates NWF0642 and an Axopar 37 boat and trailer were
originally stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Northview Drive. A
resident in the area had a video of the boat being pulled and dropped off on
the roadway on John Street. In the video, the stolen truck was followed by a
red Chevrolet Impala.
Fraud
Mar. 13 (8:52 a.m.) A Friendswood woman received a letter in
the mail containing a debit card and notice that a bank account was opened
using her personal information. Two checks were deposited into the account and
both checks were returned as unpaid. Since
that time, another account has been opened with a different bank using her
fraudulently obtained information.
Mar. 13 (6:19 p.m.) A Friendswood man received a text
message from someone who he believed to be associated with Centerpoint
Energy. The text message alerted him to
a $300 outstanding bill that needed to be paid or his power would be shut off.
The text message phone number was called and answered by a man who also claimed
the caller owed money. The victim provided the man with his VISA card number,
now he has cancelled his credit card number.
Mar. 15 (12:15 p.m.) A Friendswood man believed he was
contacted by a friend to conduct two large wire transfers. After the two transfers were complete, the
“friend” asked for a third wire transfer. At that point, the victim became
suspicious. The victim is working with
his bank to attempt to recover the money.
Mar. 17 (4:16 p.m.) A Friendswood man reported identity
theft after receiving several emails about a new online checking account and active
mobile banking account.
Narcotics
Mar. 18 (2:25 a.m.) Steven Winfield Henderson, 48, of
Pearland, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty
Group 1. Officers responded to the 400 block of N. Friendswood Drive after
receiving reports of a man crawling in the roadway. When officers arrived, they
found Henderson crawling in the northbound lanes of the roadway. He was intoxicated after leaving a nearby
bar. Henderson was found to be in possession of cocaine.
Devonte Rashire Allen, 31, of Missouri City, was charged
with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1. Allen was stopped
on March 20th at 2:16 a.m. for a defective headlight in the 500 block of E.
Edgewood Drive. The officer checked
Allen’s driving history and discovered that he had outstanding warrants for
Theft, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, and Theft of a Firearm. The warrants were out of Harris County. Once
Allen was in custody, a vehicle inventory was conducted. During the inventory, the officer found
burglary tools, including a spring-loaded window punch, cordless tools, and
masks. There were multiple phones, several wallets, purses, and other bags. In
the glove compartment, the officer found methamphetamine.
Driving While Intoxicated
Mar. 19 (4:20 a.m.) Omar Valdez Pimentel, 32, of Houston,
was charged with Driving While Intoxicated-3rd or more in the 100 block of W.
Edgewood Drive. Pimentel was stopped for speeding and failure to signal a lane
change. During the contact, Pimentel exhibited signs of intoxication including
the smell of alcohol on his breath. He failed a field sobriety test. During
booking, he tried to drink a bottle of hand sanitizer and was transported to a
local hospital. He was kept by the hospital for observation and a warrant will
be issued for his arrest.
Traffic
Mar. 16 (12:07 p.m.) Kendrice Rashard Johnson, 32, of
Rosharon, was charged with Violation of Bond Conditions. Johnson was driving without a front license
plate in the 1200 block of W. Parkwood Avenue.
He had just picked up his girlfriend from a local daycare center. The officer checked Johnson’s driver’s
license and found that he had bond conditions that were placed on him on
January 5th by a Galveston County court. In those bond conditions, Johnson was
prohibited from communicating with his girlfriend, prohibited from going to her
place of school/employment, and was to have no contact with her except through
an attorney.
Mar. 19 (6:51 p.m.) A hit and run accident was reported in the
15300 block of Blackhawk Blvd. A car was
struck by a motorcyclist. The driver of
the motorcycle was a white male with dark, long hair and a goatee. He ran a
stop sign and aggressively maneuvered around the car and hit the side front
bumper of the car. The motorcyclist lost
his balance and laid down his motorcycle. When the driver of the car stopped
and got out to check on the motorcyclist he was met with hostility. The motorcyclist lifted his motorcycle and
drove off at a high rate of speed. The driver of the motorcycle did damage to
the front end of the vehicle when he got the tailpipe stuck in the bumper of
the car.

Roadwork Update
The Texas Department of Transportation's contractor is
planning to do a traffic switch on FM 528 at the Irrigation Canal bridge on
Tuesday, March 21. Please use caution in the area and be aware of the change in
the traffic pattern.

Citizen Online Reporting System
The Citizen Online Reporting System is officially live. The
system allows citizens to go online to report a crime that is not currently in
progress. Citizens are also able upload documents, photos, and videos to the
report as needed. The online reporting system is available through our website.
We have also created a YouTube video with instructions to walk citizens through
the online reporting process.
