GRAPEVINE, Texas  -  The Grapevine Police Department arrested a suspect overnight in connection to Friday’s road rage shooting.

Officers served a warrant for the arrest of 30-year-old Brandon Leotta Rutt early Saturday morning on April 1, 2023.

Rutt is currently in the Grapevine Detention Center awaiting transport to the Tarrant County Jail, where he will be arraigned by a judge. The Euless man faces charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

On Friday, March 31, 2023, a 27-year-old woman was entering the southbound lanes of SH-121 from Bass Pro Drive when she and a man driving another vehicle became involved in a road rage incident.

The man pointed a small pistol at her and fired. The bullet went through the woman’s neck. She was able to safely pull over on the shoulder as the man kept driving away. The woman’s injuries are not life-threatening, and she was able to provide a suspect and vehicle description to detectives from the hospital.

Grapevine police immediately began searching for more details on the shooter’s vehicle. Using information from both the victim and a witness, detectives were able to obtain surveillance video of the suspect vehicle. Grapevine detectives worked throughout the night to obtain evidence and ensure they had the correct suspect. Since the arrest, detectives have located additional evidence near the suspect’s home.

The Grapevine Police Department is committed to providing a safe community for citizens, businesses and visitors. The swift identification and arrest of a suspect in this case is a direct result of that commitment and dedication to those we protect. The Department gives a special thanks to the victim and witness for providing key details in the case, and to all of the detectives and professional staff who worked tirelessly to aid in this arrest.
