 Retired Deputy Director Dennis J. Storemski passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Barbara Storemski. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Gary M. Storemski, assigned to the Major Offenders Division. Dennis Storemski joined the Houston Police Department on November 8, 1965, Academy Class #32. He was assigned to the Traffic and Accident, Burglary and Theft, Auto Theft, Juvenile, and Narcotics Divisions. On April 9, 1977, he was promoted to the rank of Captain. As such, he was in command of the Juvenile and Narcotics Divisions. On June 16, 1979, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief, which on December 31, 1985, became the rank of Assistant Chief. As such, he was in command of the Criminal Investigations and Tactical Support Commands. On November 28, 1998, he started his command of Suppt. Coord. Adm., when he was appointed as Executive Assistant Chief. With this rank, he retired on December 31, 2004. On January 1, 2005, he rejoined the department as Chief of Staff of the Office of Public Safety. There was a change of title on August 9, 2008, to Deputy Director. He retired in command of the Office of Public Safety on March 10, 2018.

A visitation will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, Texas 77070 (281) 469-2686 on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.

 

Funeral services will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Friday, April 21, 2023 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023 (713) 928-5141.
