August 21-28, 2023
Theft
Aug.
21 (9:49 a.m.) Two checks mailed by a local business were stolen,
altered, and cashed. The checks were mailed on August 1 and cleared a
San Marcos bank on August 8.
Aug. 24 (1:27 p.m.) A theft of two Amazon packages was reported in the 15700 block of Blackhawk Blvd.
Fraud
Aug.
22 (10:49 a.m.) A Friendswood man’s email account was hacked. The
suspect gained access to the victim’s personal identifying information,
and they applied for multiple credit cards.
Aug.
23 (8:26 a.m.) A Friendswood man’s identity was stolen and used to open
an energy account with TXU at an apartment in Webster.
Aug.
23 (3:28 p.m.) A Wellby Financial Bank employee reports that several
bank locations had skimmers on the ATMs. While no skimmers were found
at the Friendswood locations, she did report that forged debit cards
were used at the ATM at the 1320 S. Friendswood Drive location.
Aug.
24 (9:14 a.m.) A Friendswood resident received a fraud alert about a
hard inquiry from a credit card bank on her credit report. The victim
discovered that he was listed as a co-signer for a private student loan.
The next day, the victim received two letters from the credit card
bank, one was approval of a loan application and the other was denial of
the loan due to the inability of the company to verify his identity.
Aug.
24 (1:05 p.m.) A Friendswood businessman was contacted by his bank
regarding a check that was presented at a bank and declined due to
suspicion of fraud. Then, he discovered that two other checks were
cashed and made payable to a 42-year-old Danbury man. The signature on
the checks was forged and believed to be stolen by a contractor who
recently completed work at his business manager’s home.
Forgery
Aug.
25 (6:17 p.m.) Two black males passed two fake $50 bills at the Kroger
gas station located at 151 N. Friendswood Drive. Both males purchased
cigarettes with the counterfeit bills and received the change back.
One of the males attempt to pass at counterfeit $50 bill inside the main
Kroger store. The cashier noticed that the money was counterfeit and
returned it to the suspect. Suspect 1 is described as a Black male
approximately 160-180 lbs., 5'10-6'2, 25-35 years old, thin build, with a
goatee and mustache, wearing a black “Bass Pro Shop” hat, white
sunglasses, white t-shirt, and blue patterned shorts. Suspect 2 is a
Black male approximately 200-240 lbs., 5'10-6'2, 25-35 years old, medium
build, with a goatee and thin mustache, short black hair, light blue
t-shirt, and black basketball shorts with a red trim around the bottom
of each leg. The suspect vehicle is a Silver/grey Chevrolet Tahoe, black
Chevrolet emblem on the back hatch, possibly grey five-spoke factory
wheels, black top rack, tinted windows, large black brush guard that
wraps around the headlights and has mesh in the center grill area. One
of the men also attempted to use a counterfeit $50 at a nearby smoke
shop. The clerk recognized the bill as a fake. He returned the bill and
was able to retrieve $70 worth of stolen product from the suspect.
Traffic
Aug.
26 (1:53 a.m.) A hit and run accident was reported in the 2200 block of
Mason Terrace Drive. An unknown driver and vehicle struck a parked
vehicle on the side of the roadway and left the scene of the accident
without providing their information.
Other Incidents
Aug.
25 (1:08 p.m.) A Friendswood man discovered an Apple Air Tag attached
to his vehicle. He believes the Apple Air Tag was attached to his
property by his ex-wife.
Arrests
Aug. 21
Warren Matthew Reed, 30, of Alvin, was charged with Driving While License Invalid and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Ronald Dewayne Prince, 64, of Houston, was charged with Theft.
Isidro Eliseo Pina Ortiz, 30, of Houston, was charged with Display Expired Registration and No Driver’s License.
Aug. 22
Demarcus Scenario Strickland, 35, of Texas City, was charged with Driving While License Invalid.
Aug. 23
Erick Reyes, 27, of Channelview, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
Aug. 24
Sabino Mandujano-Perez, 49, of Friendswood, was charged with Assault.
Aug. 26
Terrance Alvin Samuels, 19, of Texas City, was charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
