FORT WORTH, Texas-

On September 1, 2023, Fort Worth Police Department West Division officers were patrolling in the area of 3000 Bledsoe Street when several gunshots were heard in the area. 

Officers located the adult male victim lying on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds to his upper body. 

The victim was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment but did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  Detectives found that the victim was shot by the suspect as he stood in the street. 

The suspect fled the scene on foot assaulting an adult female as he fled the scene.  The suspect was located a short time later in the area and was taken into custody. 

The suspect, 21-year-old Matthew Purdy, has been charged with the offense of Murder and the arrest warrant is attached to this release.
