HOUSTON (AP) — At least seven people were hospitalized as a driver fleeing from Houston police crashed into two vehicles.

Authorities say an officer spotted a speeding vehicle in north Houston Saturday night, tried to stop the driver but he took off.

Police say the driver kept going after hitting a vehicle at an intersection, with that car piling into another vehicle. He finally was stopped after slamming head-on into another vehicle that was carrying five people.

Those five and the driver of one of the vehicles hit earlier were taken to hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. The fleeing driver also was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Authorities tell Houston television station KHOU the driver trying to escape from police was in a stolen vehicle.
