A man has been charged with murder after his wife's body was found burning Sunday evening in southeast Dallas County, authorities say.

Gerald Troup, 54, was arrested Tuesday after he was interviewed as a person of interest in the case, the Dallas County Sheriff's Department said.

The department received a call about 7:30 p.m. Sunday about suspicious activity near Bilindsay Road, between Malloy Bridge Road and Belt Line Road. The caller said something was on fire and gave the description of a vehicle that had just left the location.

The department said the caller later returned to the scene and realized a body had been set on fire.

The body was later identified by the Dallas County medical examiner's office as 52-year-old Tammy Cullins.

A cause of death had not yet been determined, the medical examiner's office said Tuesday.

The interview with Troup and other information detectives had gathered led to his arrest.

He was booked into the Dallas County Jail about 11 a.m., officials said. Bail had not been set by Tuesday afternoon.
