COPPERAS COVE, TEXAS – On March 13, 2019, the Copperas Cove Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a domestic dispute in the 500 block of Primrose Drive.  The reporting party indicated the dispute took place in a travel trailer located in the backyard of the residence.  The victim and suspect, Genna Michelle Ferguson, were in the trailer consuming alcohol when Ferguson told the victim to leave the travel trailer.  The victim did not immediately leave and Ferguson threatened the victim with a firearm.  Ferguson, discharged one shotgun round toward the victim ultimately impacting the roof of the travel trailer before pointing a pistol at the victim.  The victim fled to the residence where they called 9-1-1.

Officers attempted to make contact with Ferguson to have her come outside but she would not leave the travel trailer.  The Copperas Cove Special Weapons and Tactics Team was called to the scene and negotiations ensued.  At approximately 5:00 AM, after approximately three hours of negotiations, Ferguson exited the travel trailer peacefully.  Genna Michelle Ferguson was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon – family violence.

As a precaution, several area residents were asked to evacuate during this incident.  The Copperas Cove Police Department would like to thank the residents for their continued support and cooperation during the evacuation.

At approximately 1130 AM, Genna Michelle Ferguson was arraigned on the aforementioned charge by Justice of the Peace John Guinn.  Bond was set at $25,000.  Ferguson currently awaits transfer to the Coryell County Jail.
