Galveston Police Press Release

Earlier this year, the Galveston Police Department received several complaints from community members residing near the area of Menard Park (28th St and Seawall Blvd) concerning a subject they believed to be selling narcotics at the park.  When officers spoke with these concerned citizens they were able to provide a great amount of detail about what times they observed the suspect there as well as the suspect’s appearance and how it looked when he appeared to make the transactions.  As such, officers with the department’s Special Operations Division and detectives with the Narcotics Division began conducting an investigation into the complaints.  After several operations, officers identified the primary suspect as 20-year-old Camron Ritell, who was found to be selling narcotics, mostly to minors, inside and near Menard park.

On Monday, May 20th, 2019 Officers served an arrest warrant and subsequent search warrant at Rittel’s residence in the 2000 block of 74th St.  Inside they found over a pound of marijuana packaged for delivery, THC liquid concentrate, a Kahr handgun, and over $13,000 dollars in cash.  The cash, gun, and narcotics were all seized from the location.

Camron Ritell has been arrested and charged with the following offenses:

  • Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 2/2-A (>4g<400g) -  $80K Bond
  • Delivery of a Controlled Substance/Marijuana to a minor - $40k Bond
  • Possession of Marijuana >4oz<5lb - $10k Bond

Removing this suspect from the streets, selling narcotics to neighborhood kids, would not have been possible without the direct involvement from the community.  It is a case such as this that serves as a shining example of how the citizens and their police department can work together in partnership to make their community safer.
