GALVESTON, TX — Four people were arrested on Galveston Island Friday morning after they were caught burglarizing vehicles at a Holiday Inn, police said. The call came in at about 3:30 a.m. that a witness saw two people breaking into a car in the parking lot at 5002 Seawall Blvd.

A Galveston police officer who was working off-duty employment nearby was the first to respond to the area. The two burglars tried to run, and got into a waiting car with two others, but they were quickly caught.

Police learned that the four had taken part in 14 car burglaries in the area, and found stolen items from the burglaries in their car, including stolen weapons and narcotics, police said.

The four suspects were identified as 19-year-old Isaiah Melendez who is from Houston, 24-year-old Porcha Sweeney, of Katy; Darrick Carriere, 18, of Houston, and Elizabeth McCook, 19, of Missouri City.
