Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the murder of her neighbor, is being held at the same Texas prison that houses Selena Quintanilla's killer.
Guyger, 31, was found guilty last week in the shooting death of Botham Jean, a 26-year-old accountant. She will do her time at the Mountain View Unit in Gatesville, Texas, which also happens to be the same facility that Yolanda Saldivar is being held, according to CNN.com.
Saldivar was sentenced to life in prison in 1995 for fatally shooting Selena on March 31. Saldivar was the president of Selena's fan club when she committed the act.
Records show Saldivar — while serving her prison time at Gatesville — was "close" to Diana Zamora, who is known as the "Texas Cadet Murderer." Zamora was housed at Mountain View Unit for safekeeping in June 2015.
Zamora alleges that other inmates began to "gang up" on her and Saldivar because of their high-profile cases, according to an article from mySA.com.
Guyger's case also drew plenty of attention. The former officer claims she had mistaken Jean's apartment for her own even though it was one floor below. She said during the trial that she thought Jean was an intruder.
The Mountain View Unit, which is about 130 miles southwest of Dallas, houses a maximum of 645 people, including death row inmates, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice website.
