Capital Murder/Aggravated Robbery

 

TEXAS CITY, TX (October 9, 2019, 8:31 PM), Texas City Police and Fire Departments responded to Costa Mariposa Apartments, located at 7555 Medical Center Drive, building #12, in reference to a reported robbery with shots fired and a male subject down and not moving. Officer responded and located a deceased 45 year old male by the staircase of building #12, with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the head.

 

Witnesses described the suspect as a thin build younger black male approximately 5’10, wearing blue jeans and a white shirt. The suspect was seen leaving in the victim’s 2016 white Nissan Maxima displaying Texas temporary license plate 42350U3. Texas City Criminal Investigation and Identification was called to the scene.

 

While investigating the Capital Murder, investigators learned of another aggravated robbery (carjacking) that had occurred at approximately 8:15 PM at the Metro PCS store located in Mainland Mall Shopping Center at 5320 FM 1765. The victims of this robbery stated that a black male between 17 and 19 years of age wearing blue jeans and a white hooded sweatshirt, approached them in the parking lot and pulled a handgun. The suspect demanded the victims keys to their red 2002 Honda Odyssey minivan. The victims complied and the suspect drove away in the minivan. 

 

During the investigation at the complex the red Honda Odyssey taken from Metro PCS was located in the complex parking lot and transported to the Texas City Police Department for processing. At the time of this release investigators believe the suspect from the two offenses are one in the same.

 

The white Nissan Maxima was located on October 7, 2019 in La Marque at approximately 7:30 AM and transported to the Texas City Police Department for processing.

CASE UPDATE

On Thursday, October 10, 2019 the Texas City Police Department presented the above cases to the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office. The District Attorney’s Office has accepted the charges of Capital Murder (TCPD Case #19-005756) and Aggravated Robbery (TCPD Case #19-005755).

While these charges have been accepted this is investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Texas City Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 409-643-5720.
