McLennan County deputies wounded a Louisiana fugitive in an exchange of
gunfire early Thursday morning on Lake Air Drive near the intersection
with North Valley Mills Drive in Waco.

Information about his injuries and condition wasn’t immediately available.
Deputies were looking for Hill, who’s named in Louisiana drug and firearms warrants issued in late August.
They found him just before 2 a.m.
Thursday walking along Lake Air Drive near Uncle Dan's Barbeque &
Catering, McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said.
“They lit him up,” McNamara said.
“He took off running opened fire and started shooting at them. They returned fire to protect themselves.”
Hill was hit at least four times.
He was carrying three guns and narcotics, McNamara said.
Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
The shooting was the second involving a Central Texas law enforcement officer this week.
Texas Rangers are also investigating after a Temple police officer shot and killed a 28-year-old man Monday night.
Police identified the man as Michael Dean.
The shooting occurred at around 8:15
p.m. Monday in the area of Southeast H K Dodgen Loop and Little River
Road on the south side of the city.
“The Texas Rangers will be leading an
investigation, with the assistance of the Temple Police Department’s
Criminal Investigations Division and Bell County District Attorney's
Office,” police said in a press release Tuesday.
The officer involved in the shooting, a nine-year veteran whose name was not released, has been placed on paid leave.
The officer wasn’t injured.
The incident occurred in the area of a CEFCO store and a Tractor Supply store.
No further details have been released.
