Lufkin Police are continuing the investigation into a shooting that occurred earlier this evening on Locke Street.

The shooting victim is a 17-year-old man. He is being taken to an out-of-town hospital for surgery.

He is expected to recover, according to preliminary reports from the hospital.

Neighbors in the 400 block of Locke Street and Locke Alley reported hearing a fight before several shots rang out. The suspect fled the scene.

The victim was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital and we were contacted by hospital staff around 6:20 p.m.
