Harris County Precinct 8
Phil Sandlin, Constable

PRESS RELEASE
May 22, 2020

This morning, at approximately 7:52 AM, Precinct 8 Deputy Investigator J. Wingfield was observing a house in the 800 block of Halewood Drive in the Meadowgreen subdivision of Clear Lake. He had received an earlier tip regarding stolen items possibly being at that location. Upon investigating prior to his arrival, he found that the resident, 31 year old Keith Allen Golden II, had several open felony arrest warrants and was also wanted for parole violation. He decided to contact the US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force to advise them he was watching the house for the subject. A short time later, the subject exited the residence and entered a white Dodge Ram pickup truck. The subject observed Deputy Investigator Wingfield and began to elude him throughout the neighborhood. Additional Precinct 8 district patrol units and criminal warrant Deputies responded to the area. The suspect was able to turn down a side street where he bailed out of the truck on foot. Other law enforcement officers with the Houston Police Department, Texas DPS, Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and the US Marshal Service joined the search and all began to canvas the area and set up a perimeter. An air support unit (helicopter) from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office also responded to aid in the search.

Precinct 8 K9 Deputy T. Brinkley was dispatched to the location and began a ground search with his partner, Evo, starting from the area of the abandoned white truck. After a short amount of time, K9 Evo was able to gain the scent of the suspect and began pulling Deputy Brinkley towards the backyard of a residence near Ridgewell Drive and Pebbleshire Drive. Once in the backyard, Evo went to the west side of the house and alerted on a dog house tucked between an air conditioner unit and a fence. Evo located Mr. Golden inside of the dog house and attempted to remove him. Other units responded immediately to the location and the suspect was taken into custody at approximately 9:09 AM. Golden sustained dog bites to his arm and leg and was later assessed by HFD for minor injuries. He was then turned over to the US Marshal Task Force.

Our agency will be filing felony charges on Mr. Golden for Evading in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and additional arrest warrants will be issued. It was learned the Dodge truck Golden fled from was actually stolen.

During the apprehension of Mr. Golden, several fence pickets were damaged at the residence where he was hiding. Lieutenant C. Yetter and several Warrant Division Deputies went back later to repair the fencing for the homeowner.

This was a great team effort and we are pleased that Mr. Golden is off the streets. We appreciate the cooperation from several grateful homeowners in the area as well.
Jason Finnen, Deputy Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office
