A man who police believe was street racing died when he lost control of his Honda Civic and crashed into a tree, ejecting the driver and splitting the car in half Wednesday in northwest Houston.

The force of the crash split the car in two, sending the front half of the car nearly 50 feet away.

The driver was found dead in the roadway. Police say he wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the other car involved in the race did not stop. Police are working to identify that driver.
