A body found floating in West Bay near Jamaica Beach on Sunday afternoon matches the description of the Houston man presumed to have drowned a week ago while trying to save his 3-year-old daughter near the San Luis pass, officials said.

The man has been identified as Kelvin Stanley Iraheta, 25.

Galveston Beach Patrol lifeguards rescued the child Aug. 21, but were unable to find the father, despite an extensive search.
