The victim will be identified only as a 78 year old female at this time.  She does have significant injuries; stab wounds, broken leg and a skull fracture, and has been admitted to a local hospital. The victim was able to call 9-1-1.

 

From the crime scene, it is apparent that the victim fought the suspect.

 

The suspect was arrested after jumping from a window at the residence and chased down. He was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and released to arresting officers. He is currently being held in the city jail.

 

The suspect is identified as a Daniel M. Roberts, 53 of Paris. Due to investigation needs and further medical testing, there is no mug shot available at this point in the investigation.

 

Felony charges will include burglary for the time being and other charges will be filed as the investigation continues.
