Sergeant Kelvin J. Johnson, who was assigned to the South Gessner Division, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the age of 60. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ava M. Johnson. He was also the brother of Retired Senior Police Officer Gregory W. Johnson, who retired on December 26, 2020; and brother-in-law of Retired Senior Police Officer Carla E. Johnson, who retired on March 14, 2015. He joined the Houston Police Department on January 9, 1984, Academy Class #118. During his tenure with the department, he was also assigned to the Westside, Jail, Central, South Central, Field Training, Southwest, and IFR Divisions.

The body is entrusted with Allen Dave Funeral Homes, 2103 Cypress Landing Road, Houston, Texas 77090 (713) 480-2966.

A viewing will be held before the Celebration of Life at Fallbrook Church, 12512 Walters Road, Houston, Texas 77014 (281) 444-2733, on Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The Celebration of Life will start at 10:00 a.m.

Praying for his wife Ava,his girls and family.K.J.was a very kind young man who would go out of his way to help people.He loved his Wife and girls.I pray for strength for the family.He was one of the best Police officers ever .May you R.I.P. My friend Vee Jay and Family 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
