An examination will be held on Tuesday, December
5, 2023 @ 5:00 p.m. at the Paris Police Department, 2910 Clarksville
St., Paris, TX. for the position of police officer in the Paris Police
Department.
Applications for testing will be accepted now through Thursday, November
30, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. at which time applications close. No applications
will be accepted after 5:00 PM on that date.
Applications may be
obtained in the Civil Service Director’s office, Paris Police Station or
on the web at
www.paristexas.gov.
Study guides are available at the
Civil Service Directors office and Police Station.
All applications must
be submitted to the Civil Service Director at City Hall, 135 1st S.E.,
Paris, Texas 75460.

If the applicant is a veteran, a copy of the
DD214 form must be submitted with the application or prior to the test.
A photo identification, preferred state driver’s license, is required
to take the test.
Requirements for applicants for a position in the Paris Police
Department are as follows:
Be at least 21 years of age;
18-20 years of age can apply with 60 hours of college or 2 years of
military duty with an honorable discharge;
Applicants must be able to read and write the English language;
Applicants must meet all legal requirements necessary to become
eligible for future licensing by the Texas Commission on Law
Enforcement;
Applicants who are veterans of any branch of the United States Armed
Services are eligible for preference points provided they receive a
passing grade and show proof of an honorable discharge;
Applicants who take the examination will be given a physical
assessment.
The eligibility list created by this examination will be in effect for a
period of twelve (12) months from the date of the examination, unless
the list is exhausted prior to that time.
Preference in entry level
hiring will be given to those persons on the eligibility list who are
certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) at the
basic level or have passed the basic peace officer TCOLE licensing
examination.

In order to receive preference, certification
verification must be submitted by the day of the test.
Tutoring for applicants will be provided on Thursday, November 30, 2023 @
5:00 p.m. at the Paris Police Department, 2910 Clarksville St., Paris,
TX.
