FORT WORTH, Texas- On Monday, November 13, 2023, the Grand Prairie Police Department arrested Officer Carlos Zelaya #4197 on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon - Family Violence stemming from an incident that occurred in Grand Prairie.

Officer Zelaya was off-duty at the time of the offense. He was booked into Grand Prairie Jail and arraigned there.

Pending the outcome of the criminal and Internal Affairs administrative investigations, Officer Zelaya is on restricted duty and stripped of all police powers.

Zelaya has been employed with the Fort Worth Police Department since 2013 and is assigned to the Gang Unit.

Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation by our neighboring agency, the Fort Worth Police Department is unable to provide any additional information at this time. Any inquiries regarding the criminal investigation should be directed to the Grand Prairie Police Department.

We take these allegations against Officer Zelaya very seriously and will, upon conclusion of the investigation, take all appropriate action in keeping with our high standards.
