FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:      July 21, 2019

On July 18, 2019, at 10:25 pm, deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 19600 block of Wearyall Hill Ln. A woman had been shot twice in her home. Evidence indicates the shooter was in the victim’s back yard and shot through one of her windows.

The woman told deputies she believed the shooter to be former boyfriend Gregory Horton, against whom she has a protective order. An eyewitness confirmed the identity of the suspect. Deputies conducted a search of the area immediately, enlisting the assistance of a DPS helicopter and two TCSO K9s. He was not located that evening.

TCSO, along with the US Marshals searched for Horton and located him in Rome, Georgia. Horton turned himself in to local authorities on July 20, 2019 and is currently in custody.

TCSO’s investigation is ongoing and the extradition process will begin shortly.
