At
approximately 5:30 pm on April 16, 2023, TIMOTHY ROBERTS, 27, of Austin
was brought into the Travis County Jail Central Booking Facility,
without incident and charged
with a parole violation.
During the booking process, he became unresponsive. TCSO staff
immediately began CPR and ATCEMS took over when they arrived.
Resuscitation efforts were ultimately unsuccessful, and Roberts was
pronounced deceased at 7:19 p.m.
An
investigation by TCSO’s Internal Affairs Unit, Criminal Investigations
Division, Texas Rangers and the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office
is underway, as is
customary with any death in custody. An autopsy was conducted April 17,
2023, and the final report is pending.
