AUSTIN
— With polling places across Texas closing at 7:00 p.m. local time this
evening, county election officials are now beginning to report results
for the 2022 General Election through the Texas Secretary of State's Election Night Returns portal.
The
Texas Secretary of State's office does not grant and cannot grant
extension of voting hours past 7:00 p.m. local time - only a Texas
district court has the authority to do so. Today, two Texas counties
obtained Texas district court orders to extend voting hours to 8:00 p.m.
CT due to delays in opening polling locations this morning. As a result, those counties cannot begin reporting results from Early Voting until their polls have closed.
In Bell County, a Texas district court order extended voting hours to 8:00 p.m. CT.
In Harris County, a Texas district court order extended voting hours to 8:00 p.m. CT.

SITE AND THE TEXAS SECRETARY OF STATE'S WEB SITE ARE THE RESULT OF THE
COUNTY NOT YET UPDATING RESULTS DATA INTO THE SOS ELECTION NIGHT RETURNS
PORTAL BEFORE UPLOADING THE SAME DATA TO ITS OWN WEB SITE. UNOFFICIAL
RESULTS REPORTED TO THE SOS ON ELECTION NIGHT ARE REFRESHED EVERY FIVE
MINUTES UNTIL ELECTION RESULTS FROM 100% OF PRECINCTS AND POLLING PLACES
IN ALL 254 COUNTIES HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO OUR OFFICE.
