Investigation into Assault at 12821 Westheimer Road


Houston police are investigating the assault of a man that occurred at 12821 Westheimer Road about 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday (July 30).

The victim, Jalane Tracy, 25, was transported to Southwest Memorial Hermann Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers A. Barker and M. Combs reported:

Mr. Tracy reported he was inside a barber shop at the above address when five unknown black males confronted him.  Tracy stated he did not remember what happened, but woke up on the floor, bleeding.  Tracy's girlfriend was outside in their vehicle and stated she saw the suspects flee the scene on foot.  When she went inside, Tracy was on the floor experiencing a seizure.

Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 4702 Mangum


Houston police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at 4702 Mangum about 8:25 p.m. Tuesday (July 30).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Saldana and Detective J. Brown reported:

Officers responded to a shooting at the Mangum Oaks Apartments at the above address and found the victim lying on the ground.  He had at least one apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses stated they heard several gunshots and then observed two unknown black male suspects flee the location in an unknown red vehicle.

Investigation into Man Found Deceased at 5701 Gessner Road


Houston police are investigating the death of a man found at 5701 Gessner Road about 9:05 p.m. on Tuesday (July 30).

The identity of the male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Homicide Division Officers R. Montalvo and D. Nabors reported:

A witness at a gas station at the above address drove into the parking lot and noticed an unknown male lying on the ground and not breathing.  He appeared to have sustained injuries, possibly a gunshot wound.  The witness called 911.  Paramedics arrived and pronounced the male deceased at the scene.

Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 6311 French Chateau Drive


Houston police are investigating the suicide of a male who shot himself in the presence of HPD patrol officers at 6311 French Chateau Drive about 11 p.m. on Tuesday (July 30).

The identity of the male, 30, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Lieutenant W. Meeler and Detective E. Aguilera reported:
 
Officers were dispatched to a shooting in-progress call at a residence at the above address and arrived to find a male inside a vehicle on the street flashing his lights at them.  The officers exited their patrol vehicles and noticed the male holding a handgun to his head.  As officers tried to establish communication with the male, he shot himself in the head.  Officers quickly provided first aid until paramedics arrived.  The male was pronounced deceased a short time later at Ben Taub General Hospital.

Investigators learned from the male’s roommates that he was acting erratically before he left the residence and had fired multiple rounds into the home before officers arrived.

As is customary when an individual dies in the presence of officers, the incident is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions.

 Investigation into Human Remains Found at 900 Clear Lake City Boulevard


Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of an individual whose remains were found at 900 Clear Lake City Boulevard about 11:55 p.m. on Monday (July 29).

The victim's gender, identity and cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detective K. McDonald reported:

A bicyclist traveling at the above address found what appeared to be a human skull near the roadway and notified authorities.  Officers responded and confirmed the remains were human.

The investigation is pending results of an examination by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Investigation into Male Found Deceased at 303 Jensen Drive


Houston police are investigating the death of a man found at 303 Jensen Drive about 3:30 p.m. last Friday (July 26).

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detective R. Moss reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to the above address following a report a male was found deceased in a vacant warehouse.  On Monday (July 29), the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences advised investigators an apparent suspicious wound was discovered during the autopsy.

The investigation is continuing.

 Investigation into Fatal Crash at 10100 Harwin Drive


Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10100 Harwin Drive about 12:55 a.m. on Saturday (July 27).

The female victim, 32, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where she was pronounced dead.  Her identification is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

A female passenger, 30, was also transported to the hospital in critical condition.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rodriguez and Officer F. Flynn reported:

The victim was driving an orange Chevrolet Camaro eastbound at the above address, exceeding the speed limit, when she entered a curved part of the road, failed to maintain a single lane and struck a tree in the median.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 5800  Bellaire Boulevard


Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5800 Bellaire Boulevard about 12:35 a.m. last Friday (July 26).

The male victim, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rodriguez and Officer M. Nicotra reported:

A woman, 21, was driving a black Honda Civic westbound at the above address when she entered the Renwick intersection and struck the victim, a pedestrian.  The man was not in a crosswalk and did not have the right of way.

The driver remained at the scene, was examined by a DWI Task Force officer and found not to be impaired.

The investigation is continuing.

Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 6400 Richmond Avenue


Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a crash that killed two men at 6400 Richmond Avenue about 2:40 a.m. on Sunday (July 28).

The suspect, Eloy Mercado (H/m, 21), is charged with two counts of intoxicated manslaughter and one count of intoxicated assault in the 338th State District Court.  A booking photo of Mercado is not available at this time.

The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.  Their identities are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer J. Hill reported:

The suspect, Mercado, was traveling westbound at the above address at a high rate of speed when his silver Cadillac XTS struck a silver Lexus IS 250C whose driver was exiting a private drive and likely turning left to travel eastbound on Richmond.  The Lexus' driver, 31, and passenger, 30, died at the scene.  Mercado and a passenger were transported to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Further investigation led to Mercado being arrested and charged in this incident.

Investigation into Fatal Shooting in 5000 Block of Briscoe Street


Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman that occurred in the 5000 block of Briscoe Street about 3:10 a.m. on Sunday (July 28).

The female victim, Patricia Ann Marshall Spivey, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Special Investigations Unit Detectives R. Bass, J. Snook, M. Millington, E. Rodriguez and L. Lopez reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in progress call at a residence in the 5000 block of Briscoe Street.  Upon arrival, officers learned the situation involved a domestic disturbance between an off-duty Harris County Sheriff's Office deputy and his wife, Ms. Spivey.  The deputy suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and his wife was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deputy was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Shooting at 13600 Candleshade Lane


Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 13600 Candleshade Lane about 12:45 p.m. on Saturday (July 27).

The victim, Mario J. Morales, 17, was transported to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening wounds.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer C. Castellani reported:

HPD patrol officers responding to a reported drive-by shooting at the above address arrived to find Mr. Morales suffering from gunshot wounds to the arm.  Witnesses reported two suspects, described only as black males, 17-20 years old, had arrived at the residence and began arguing with Morales.  During the argument, one of the males shot Morales.  Both suspects then fled in a white four-door sedan, possibly a Pontiac.

UPDATE:  Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 13360 Northborough Drive


Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 13360 Northborough Drive about 8:05 p.m. on July 13.

The suspect, Adolfo Vasquez (H/m, 23), is charged with murder in the 177th State District Court.

The victim, Julius B. Caesar, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Barrow and J. Stroble reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call at a convenience store at the above address and found Mr. Caesar deceased in the parking lot.  Witnesses stated the victim had walked out of the convenience store and began arguing with another male in the parking lot.  The unknown suspect then shot the victim several times and fled the scene in a tan, late-90s model GMC pickup truck with damage to the front bumper.  He was accompanied by two other males and a juvenile female.  

Further investigation led to the identification of Vasquez as the suspect in this case and, on Saturday (July 27), he was arrested without incident.

Investigation into Shooting Incident at 6200 Gulfton Street  


Houston police are investigating a shooting incident at 6200 Gulfton Street about 1 a.m. on Saturday (July 27).

The male victim, 16, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers S. Ragsdale and R. Naughton reported:

A security guard was following aggravated robbery suspects, which led to him discharging his firearm and striking the teen in the leg.

There are no charges in the incident at this time, as the investigation is continuing.

Suspect Arrested, Charged in Crash at 10900 Northwest Freeway


Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a crash involving a Coffee City police officer at 10900 Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) about 4:10 a.m. on Saturday (July 27).

The suspect, Luis Castillo-Garcia (H/m, 26), is charged with DWI- third offense in the 337th State District Court.  

The officer was transported to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Lopez and Officer E. Morgado reported:

The officer was working an extra job at a road closure at the above address.  The suspect, Castillo-Garcia, was driving a white Chevrolet van southbound at the above address when he struck a white tow truck working a separate crash on the freeway.  The Chevrolet van then struck a Houston Fire Department engine truck before striking the officer, who was on foot.

Castillo-Garcia was detained at the scene, examined by an HPD DWI Task Force officer and found to show signs of intoxication.  He was subsequently arrested and charged in this incident.
