On May 5th, 2023, at approximately 12:25AM, Cedar Park Police Officers responded to a call for service at an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Main St.

The call was reported as a domestic violence situation in which the female victim had been physically assaulted and threatened with a firearm.

The suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival. Soon after police evacuated the female to safety, the male returned to the apartment and made threats to shoot officers. The suspect barricaded himself inside the apartment and continued to make threats towards responding officers.

Central Texas Regional SWAT was called to the scene. Crisis Negotiators attempted to resolve the situation for several hours, but the suspect refused to cooperate.

Gas was eventually deployed inside the residence and the suspect exited the apartment, where he was taken into custody without further incident. Neither the suspect or officers were injured during this situation.

The Cedar Park Police Department identified the suspect as ASHTON CARTER W/M 07/19/1991 of Cedar Park.

Carter was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and transported to Williamson County Jail.

This incident remains under investigation at this time.
