Houston's Phil Archer, who took a knife to the side while reporting in 1978, will soon make his final report.

The KPRC Channel 2 reporter announced Monday that his last day at the station will be March 4. Archer is no stranger to Houston news, being the longest-running TV reporter on air.

In the 70's I was a young homicide detective and Phil was a young reporter, we made many scenes together. He quickly became one of the reporters we felt we could trust to report the story accurately and honestly. Thanks for your service to the citizens of Houston Phil. May you have a long and happy retirement.
