On September 21, 2022 at approximately 3:20 AM, Precinct 8 DeputyJ.Mitchellwith Constable Phil Sandlin’s Officewas actively patrolling the parking lot of AlmedaMall in the 12200 block of the Gulf Freeway when a Burglary in progress callwas dispatchedinside the mall. While searching the area, Deputy Mitchell located an occupied vehicle with its headlights off parked across thestreet from themall. As Deputy Mitchell approached thevehicle, he noticed the front license platewas covered with a piece of clothing. Deputy Mitchell detained the driverand immediately after, observed two males wearing dark clothing running through the mall parking lot. One ofthe fleeing suspects reportedly pointed a handgun at a wrecker driverwho was alsoin the parking lot. As Deputy Mitchell attempted to escort the detained subject to his patrol car, themanbroke away from his grasp and began to flee on foot with handcuffs. Deputy Mitchell was able to apprehend the subject who was later identified as 28 year old Telvin Leavean McMillion. Responding Precinct 8 and HPD units arrived on scene and set up a perimeter of the area. One of the fleeing suspects was found hiding innearbybushes and was identified as 39 year old Jubbar Ballee Boothe. Boothe was found to be in possession of several trash bags, burglary tools and an assortment of jewelry. The third suspect was found hiding in a dumpsterand whenapprehended,a handgun was recoveredfrominside. Thatsuspect was identified as 27 year old Cameron ZonellofHouston.A check ofHouston’sinformation revealed a prior felony conviction for Robbery. On-sceneinvestigation revealedthattwo stores were broken into inside the malland over $514,000 worth of merchandise was stolenin total. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted several charges on all three subjects. McMillion was charged with Escape and Burglary of a Business, Boothe was charged with Burglary of a Business and Houston was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Weapon and Burglary of a Business.
