GALVESTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Two people have died following a shooting at a Labor Day house party early Sunday morning in Galveston, according to police.

The Galveston Police Department said shots were fired at a home in the 4000 block of Mendocino Drive in Galveston's west end at about 1:20 a.m.

According to officials, an altercation between unidentified partygoers led to the gunfire that struck two individuals.

Police confirmed that the two victims were male. Their identities have not been released.

Officials also note there were several others injured in the shooting.

Video shows the massive response by first responders as people were still gathered at the house in Pointe San Luis subdivision, which is about three miles from the San Luis Pass.

Lt. Sean Migues said authorities don't believe there is a threat to the public, although no arrests have been made.

Officials say several partygoers who were interviewed overnight identified a possible suspect. Many attendants left the area before police arrived shortly after the shooting.

Officials say this is an ongoing investigation.
