Retired Police Officer Joseph R. Hammons passed away on
Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Gloria A. Hammons. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He joined the
Houston Police Department on November 12, 1973, Academy Class #62. During his
tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Traffic and Accident,
Special Operations, and Narcotics Divisions. Police Officer Hammons retired on
September 10, 1994.
