At 11 a.m. on MONDAY (June 25), a funeral service will be held for fallen Houston Police Officer Norberto "Bert" Ramon at River Pointe Church in Channelview, Texas.

Officer Ramon, a 25-year HPD veteran, lost his battle to cancer on June 15 at the age of 56.  In the midst of cancer treatments, Officer Ramon valiantly rescued countless numbers of flood victims during Hurricane Harvey in 2017.  He received numerous accolades and honors for his dedication to service.

Due to limited parking at the church at 970 Dell Dale Street, media representatives covering the service will have designated parking at Hamblen Elementary School at 1019 Dell Dale Street, adjacent to the church.

At the request of Officer Ramon's family, neither media representatives nor cameras will be allowed inside the church.  The only exception, agreed to by the family, is that one television station could serve as a pool camera to broadcast the service.  Should a station agree to serve as the pool camera, that station is asked to contact PIO John Cannon at 713-504-7453 to make such arrangements.

Following the service, officers and family will gather for a short Hall of Honor ceremony outside the church.

A staging area for the media will be outside the rear of the church, on an elevated ramp directly across the church's entrance and exit doors.  A PIO will be at the church about 9 a.m. on Monday to direct media to the area.
